This constituency is located in the north portion of Winnipeg. The population of the constituency in 2008 was 20,500. The new boundaries extend to the north by several blocks into the previous Kildonan boundaries, and retract several blocks from the south, which is now in Point Douglas. This area was previously represented by Gord Mackintosh (New Democratic Party) in St. Johns since 1993, and by Dave Chomiak (New Democratic Party) in Kildonan since 1990.
