Questionnaire Response

Phil Green - Kewatinook

Why did you decide to run in the 2011 Manitoba election?

I was asked if I would be interested to join the GREEN PARTY. I decided to be a candidate in the 2011 Manitoba election because I believe and support the party platform and my lifestyle is consistent in being environmentally conscientious and care for Mother Earth. Essentially, not only do I see virtual non-existent or at best ineffective or meaningless representation in the riding I’m a candidate for, but I see non-visionary and exclusive representation in the province. Ultimately, I am concerned about all issues regarding government leadership in the province of Manitoba.

What experience will you bring to compliment your role as MLA?

The experience I bring to the table is based on 30 plus years which includes entrepreneur, advocacy, counsellor, teacher/facilitator, school administrator, education management, policy developer, school program evaluator, consultant and advisor to educational institutions as well as chiefs and councils, etc. My viewpoints are inclusive in not only realizing there are problems in the communities and society, but what the problem solution processes are: as stated in my election pamphlet, I am aware of the ongoing concerns and issues.

Is there anything in particular you would like to change in our province? In your electoral division?

As stated, I am concerned about effective representation and leadership in the province. The Keewatinook Riding is the largest or most spread out in the province, I would address said electoral boundary.

What is one thing you stand for that is not a part of your political party's platform?

I stand for fairness and equitability for all concerned. The outstanding Treaty Land Entitlement (T.L.E.) process has been too slow and deliberate. There is no formal GREEN PARTY policy on the subject at this time, but as per experience I will contribute to the development of said policies.

Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I am a candidate for the GREEN PARTY and will uphold party policy, but most importantly I will be an MLA that represents all constituents, no matter which part of the riding they live.

What is your favourite location in the electoral division you are currently a candidate for?

I will effectively represent the total riding.
