This constituency is located in central Manitoba between Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg. The population of the constituency in 2008 was 20,000. The new Lakeside constituency has a portion of the previous Interlake constituency to the east of North Shoal Lake, but no longer includes the portion to the west of North Shoal Lake. This area was previously represented by Ralph Eichler (Progressive Conservative Party) in Lakeside since 2003, and by Tom Nevakshonoff (New Democratic Party) in the Interlake since 1999.
