Riel
This constituency is located in the southeast portion of Winnipeg. The population of the constituency in 2008 was 20,400. It is significantly changed from the previous constituency of the same name. The eastern boundary has been retracted to Dakota Street and Dunkirk Drive instead of the Seine River and St. Mary’s Road respectively. The northern boundary now includes the Kingston Row area west of Dunkirk Drive. The southern border has expanded from Novavista Drive southwards to Warde Avenue on the east side of Paddington Road, and to Burland Avenue to the west side of Paddington Road, both of which were formerly within the Seine River boundaries. This area was previously represented by Christine Melnick (New Democratic Party) in Riel since 2003 and by Theresa Oswald (New Democratic Party) in Seine River since 2003.
